Most “newborn” or “3 month” clothing is designed for babies weighing 7 pounds or more. Many parents of full-term or near full-term babies that are less than 7 pounds have a difficult time finding appropriately sized clothing even though their baby was not technically premature. Therefore, some items in this department may be for preemies weighing in the low end of this range or smaller; and some items may be for preemies or underweight babies weighing in the high end of this range or larger.
